Thrupp is 2 miles from Stroud. The village starred as itself in the TV series Morse in the Last Bus to Woodstock. In Thrupp is The Boat public house with its open fire and beamed ceilings, and a gentle, short stroll along the Oxford Canal towpath leads to the Jolly Boatman. There are many walks to be enjoyed nearby, either canal-side or along the banks of the River Cherwell, which is abundant with wildlife and birds. A ˝-hour walk along the towpath or short drive in the car leads to Kidlington which has several supermarkets, post office, chemists, launderette and various pubs and cafés. There is a nearby Park and Ride service into the city of Oxford as well as a regular bus service from the village.
