Stanton St John is 5 miles north-east of Oxford.  The history of Stanton St. John is closely linked to New College, one of Oxford University’s oldest colleges. Stanton St John has an ancient church St John the Baptist, a Village shop (runner up in Best Village shop 2010) and two  pubs, The Star and The Talkhouse. The village may be familiar to some television viewers as its shop and main street have featured in several episodes of Midsomer Murders.
